Gordon, What operating system are you using? Close the app and re-open it and does it say "unlock"?

"Your phone is locked with a pin. Please unlock the phone and try again" How?

That means you need to unlock the screen on your phone. That is all it is asking.

Hi Chris! I ve a HD7 and on PC Win7/32 Before insert the reg, and start ChevronWP7 there comes directly the error message "Uh oh. - trouble communicating with the phone".

After insert reg file and restart the pc i can start ChevronWP7. It shows me the window with the Preparation checklist. Marked both entrys and klick on unlock. Then comes the same error message as above.

I ve really installed the certificate on phone.

As I said on the other blog. This application is a webserver so you have to close all application that can use your http/https port

Closing skype made it works for me.

come on guys. release this version as opensource and we all can look for possible bugs ;) you did obfuscated the version and i do not have time to reengineer the method and variable name like this ;o)

I have the same problem... I have followed all the steps: -certificate installed -zune full sync- -registry key is there (I have browsed it and it has correct value) -pretty much stoped all the uneeded services.

I get message that my phone is PIN locked (it is not). Sometimes I get the ChevronWP7 window open but then when i click unlock it gives me this message again. I am using HTC HD7 on windows 7 x64. Please could you help?

I got the info with "Netstat -abn" that no other application uses ports 80 and 443 until I start Zune and ChevronWP7 but it''''s still not working

If one needs to re-lock the phone how is it done?

if you are trying to re-lock it, simply re-run our application. Gives you a prompt to re-lock it.

Eric, It''''s not a decision of the people it''''s a decision between Chris and MS. I think it''''s the right choice at the moment. Microsoft needs developers for WP7 and their marketplace and if this is a chance to open the system, give them a little bit time to discuss about it.

My hope for a more usable and more administrative device in future is activated :))

So we have to wait for some cool tools and tweaks which will enhance the experience on wp7 devices.

With that point of view i''''m not angry that i ve bought a wp7 phone :))

Big applause to Walshie and Co. and MS for understanding what near 30 percent of users really want.

Hope that some well known developers jumps on the wp7-train now :))

Ok, for this tool to work you need: 1. Install Windows Phone dev tools 2. Put your phone's screen timeout to Never or Disabled 3. Close all other apps on your computer: yahoo messenger, skype, outlook all. 4. Open zune and change Relationship from 'Guest' for your phone (just follow the onscreen instructions, it's easy) 5.Disabled you PIN in the phone: Settings/Slide to left/ chose Phone and at Sim Security turn off 6.connect the phone to your pc with only zune running on your computer 7.Check the 2 boxes on Chev's program and click Unlock.

To prevent relocking do this: 1. Open Windows\System32\drivers\etc hosts file (with Notepad!) 2.you will see there the line saying developers.windowsphone.com...blablabla, delete them and put this: 127.0.0.1 developerservices.windowsphone.com 127.0.0.1 developerservices.windowsphone-int.com After this go to this file Properties/Security and uncheck Write, Modify and Full Controll for every user listed there (you may have to click Advanced, and uncheck Iherits permissions from parent folder...) 3. Go to services.msc and change the startup mode to disabled for Zune Windows Mobile connectivity service. 4. Go to forum.xda-developers.com and download the files neede for your phone to prevent unlocking.

Until you install the files on your phone, turn off/turn on your phone DO NOT Update your phone with pre-Nodo or Nodo.

Although dev unlock was useful, I just had some problems with MySQL server on my PC. It wouldn't allow me access to admin tool because it tough I was accessing from developerservices.windowsphone.com and not from localhost. Thankfully I managed fix this by deleting lines added to hosts file.

for all who are having issues i found a way that should definately work.

Once you installed whats above then do the following:

1. Connect Windows phone 7 (HD7 for me)
2. ON THE DEVICE go to http://www.chevronwp7.com/cert and install. Lock the phone and leave it.
3. edit the properties of ChevronWP7.exe (I am running windows 7 64 bit.) a. Run in compatibility mode XP SP3 b. Run as Admin. c. Apply those changes and exit. DO NOT RUN IT YET
4. Start up the Zune software, and make sure it detects your phone
5. Run ChevronWP7 (If you get the pin code error, simply slide the lockscreen up so you can see the tiles, and run the program again.)
6. Then click all of the check boxes and unlock There you go. This is just how it worked for me. If you have any questions, Ill try to help you.

I have a nokia lumia 710 and have installed the certificate on the phone. have all the programs and files downloaded and have zune running and zune detects the phone and and have my phone not locked either but still get the message make sure zune is open. the applications ChevronWP7.exe starts up if the phone is unlocked i thought i was working but then i get the same error when i click unlock and it says the same error check if zune is running or usb is connected

WHat a piece of shit, I don't believe this chevron works on anyones phone. I've done everything everyone suggested and more. On the chevron page they say it's discontinued. I bet microsoft paid them to shut down the project. On the otherhand it's so shitty I wish they never started the chevron. I'm going to switch to android now.
